Position Overview:

The Grants and Compliance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the success and sustainability of the organization by managing all aspects of incoming and outgoing grants. This role is dedicated to fostering strong relationships with major funding partners, leading development communications, and coordinating the delivery of key proposals and reports. The Grants and Compliance Manager also collaborates with various departments to ensure the alignment of grant activities with organizational goals and leads special projects that contribute to the overall mission and culture of the organization.

Proposal Writing and Development 

  • Lead in writing and coordinating the development of proposals in line with Reform Alliance’s programmatic priorities, development strategy, and donor requirements, and in close collaboration with colleagues including on the Advocacy and Policy teams. 
  • Coordinate promptly and comprehensively to address feedback received from donors on proposals in consultation with relevant staff.

Grant Management 

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of Reform Alliance’s grant agreements to ensure understanding of contractual obligations and regulations at local, state and federal levels in coordination with leadership and the General Counsel. 
  • Support on quality control on all contracts before signature and facilitate signing of grant agreements in coordination with the General Counsel. 
  • Ensure that pertinent grant information is disseminated to relevant stakeholders, in coordination with leadership and others. This entails making clear presentations of all project components, including activities, budgets, monitoring and evaluation plans, timelines, reporting requirements, and visibility.  
  • Troubleshoot challenges for meeting deliverables during project implementation budgeting, in close consultation with relevant internal stakeholders to propose potential solutions that exceed donor expectations and regulations.  
  • Lead on writing and coordinating grant amendments including cost extensions/no-cost extensions, budget realignments, and project revisions in coordination with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records in Salesforce to track donor touch points and communication, grant and reporting deadlines, upcoming tasks, and reporting requirements. 

Grant Writing 

  • Write compelling, detailed, accurate donor reports that highlight key programmatic and financial updates, reflect a high standard of professionalism, and comply with Reform Alliance and donor standards and timelines. 
  • Collaborate with the Finance and department stakeholders to monitor spending and ensure the timely utilization of all grants. 
  • Develop a consolidated reporting package (templates, deadlines, and focal points) that is shared throughout the organization, in a timely manner to ensure an on-time, quality product submission to donors. 

Special Projects

  • Lead the coordination of special projects.
  • Manage other special projects as assigned by the General Counsel, ensuring they align with the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date and in-depth knowledge of donor and government policies and support implementing teams to ensure full compliance. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Business Administration).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in grant management, fundraising, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successful grant writing and funder relationship management.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience with special projects and initiatives is a plus.

Required Skills: 

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex grant requirements, budgets, and financial reports.
  • High attention to detail in managing grants, proposals, and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive approach to identifying challenges and developing creative solutions.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Zoom Grants and Salesforce
  • Grant Writing 

Salary: $100,000

We believe in the magic, connection, and collaboration that in-office work brings to our team. Therefore, we gather in our New York City (midtown) office five (5) days a week. The role requires staff to live within commuting distance of New York City.
