Senior Director of Nonprofit Finance

Salary Range: $150,000-$173,000

Organization Overview 

REFORM Alliance is a national organization seeking to safely reduce the number of people on probation and parole and create real pathways to work and wellness for people who have been supervised instead of supported. We are using all the resources we have to help fix the flawed criminal justice system in the United States by changing laws and policies and building a movement of REFORMers to help change hearts and minds. 

REFORM was founded in the wake of the #FreeMeek movement. The Board includes award-winning recording artist Meek Mill; Fanatics executive chairman Michael Rubin; Arnold Ventures co-founder Laura Arnold; entrepreneur and business mogul Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter; Kraft Group CEO and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft; Galaxy Digital CEO and founder Michael E. Position Overview

In the role you can expect to perform general accounting and finance functions alongside the Chief Financial Officer. You will also have the opportunity to lead and develop the grant and contracts compliance and related functions.

Accounting Responsibility:

  • Oversee strategic plan and integrate strategic goals into the budgeting process in partnership with the Chief Financial Officer
  • Independently prepare all support schedules for the monthly closing process to ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Manage and maintain prepaid, depreciation, accounts receivable, accounts payable and revenue schedules
  • Process, journalize and ensure compliance with payroll and related taxes
  • Review general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and complete journal entries
  • Perform quarterly and annual budget and expense analysis for multiple departments
  • Assist with development and implementation of internal controls
  • Assist in the transition to new accounting software
 

Contract Responsibility:

  • Draft, administer, and monitor the full cycle of agreements to ensure they meet terms and conditions
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of subgrant/contracting in systems, tools, and technologies
  • Recommend subgrant or contract-related policies to support overall organizational goals, priorities, and requirements, including compliance with laws and regulations
  • Review strategies and institutional procedures for dealing with challenging, complex grants or contract management issues
  • Acts as a point of contract with contractors and subgrantees; provides policy and procedure interpretation to various stakeholders, as needed
 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Manage internal subgrant and contracts audits and coordinate with any external audits
  • Train staff on grant and contracting policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Ability to manage and mentor staff
  • Other duties assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
 

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, degree in Accounting preferred
  • 6-10 years of accounting experience within the nonprofit space or public accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Professional and resourceful style with ability to work both independently and as a team, and ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects at a time
  • Flexible personality to adapt to changing environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
